Why you always give up learning a new language.

Before I explain, a question:

What do you think?

Seriously, what do you think?

You, like many other people, have tried to learn another language.

And you, like most, have also given up.

But if someone asks you why, what would your answer be?

It would most likely be something about yourself.

“I wasn’t focused.”

“I didn’t appreciate it at the time.”

“I didn’t study like I should have.”

But actually… no.

That’s not it.

The truth is that you are stuck.

Stuck in what’s called in psychology:

Emotional cycle of change.

A term coined by psychologists Don Kelley and Daryl Conner.

This behavioral change model is made up of 5 phases:

Phase 1 – Uninformed Optimism

Phase 2 – Informed Pessimism

Phase 3 – Valley of Despair

Phase 4 – Informed Optimism

Phase 5 – Success and Fulfillment

This explains 100% of your failures with languages.

It usually goes like this:

Phase 1 – Uninformed Optimism

You see something on the internet that motivates you to try again.

You get excited, install a bunch of apps, watch many videos, etc.

You understand a few things here and there in the language.

“It’s working!”.

You get more and more excited.

It doesn’t seem so hard after all.

“I’m gonna do it this time!!!”.

Phase 2 – Informed Pessimism

But then, something changes.

You start seeing things that don’t make sense.

The writing is weird.

The grammar doesn’t make sense.

The pronunciation is bizarre.

You realize how much you still don’t know.

You think about everything you’ll need to learn.

Phase 3 – Valley of Despair

Discouragement starts to set in.

You don’t know if you’re studying correctly.

You come across more questions than answers.

So much to learn.

So many changes to be made.

A lot of effort needed with no guaranteed results.

Again, you give up.

Unfortunately, most people stop here.

Very few reach phase 4.

And remember what it’s called?

‘Informed Optimism.’

That’s what’s missing: information.

Knowing what to do with total clarity.

According to your level.

Your tastes.

Your needs.

Your life.

That’s why I have an invitation for you.

Next Wednesday (07/10), at 1:00 PM EST.

I’ll do a live stream precisely about this.

And no, I won’t be selling anything at the end.

The goal is to give you the information you lack.

To show you it’s possible.

But only if you act with the right information.

I’ll see you there.

P.S. the live will be in Portuguese, so if you’re learning it, be there.
